This is a photo of my sidekick at the farm, Kayla. She is a Boyken Spaniel who is really my husband, Bobby's dog to take bird hunting (which she does well).and is a "therapy" dog too....but she's usually riding beside me in the mule feeding horses!!!

Exclaimation - again!

Dr. Susan Funk just keeps on having fun training this lovely youngster by Claim to Fame, Exclaimation! (Sport). First he was with Lynn Palm (photo below), then he was jumping in hunter shows (below too), then he was dabbling in dressage (with Susan, she did very well) and now they're having fun in competetive trailriding!(a pro rode him his first time in these photos)....Sport was cool and calm..in the rain! Susan is shown on the chestnut pinto....her older special mare.

Exclaimation is a great example of the versatility of Claim to Fame's foals.......he also was Best Young Horse in Hunter Breeding before he moved to VA with the Funks!

Exclaimation........flying high like Dad!

Just got this cute photo of Exclaimation, a darling gelding by Claim to Fame and out of Colormarks. Dr. Susan Funk, of Bedford, VA owns him.....and is graciously letting a 15 year old girl ride him. Here is a wonderful photo they just sent us of "Scout" jumping beautifully........those tight knees remind me of "dear ole dad".......I'm told he's jumping 3'9" now/!!

2009 Foals love their naps!

Jackie Gordon walked into the back pasture looking for the foals, and she found them taking a nap in their run in shed. How cute!! They are: Encounter (Charlie) in the rear, Impecable (Georgie) in the front left and Claim Applause (ChaCha) on the right!

A'Claim in her first snow!!

We so appreciate Signature Sporthorses (Jessica and Jennifer) allowing us to post this photo of Claim to Fame's daughter, A'Claim (Onyx). Even in this snow you can see her beautiful black head and neck! They say she loves playing in it! It's her first time ever seeing snow.......but it does our heart good to see her doing so well and happy! Thanks to all of our "extended family" for keeping in touch!!!

Onyx is now owned by Bob Jank, in Columbus, Ohio and is expecting a foal in the summer of 2011 by Westporte......a stallion who sired the BYH of Upperville last year and several winners at Devon this year. This should be one gorgeous foal!!

Impeccable wins the Gold at his RPSI inspection!

We are thrilled that our new colt just won the Gold Premiium Inspection on July 28th............at RSSI,held today in Orlando!

Impecable's barn name is Georgie Rosenthal......named after my grandfather, uncle and cousin . He's quite a handsome guy, a lovely presentce.

Our first Flying Colors Foals - 1996

Just found this old photo of our first foals born at Flying Colors Farm and thier dams.......

Kahlua and Cream is shown with her dam, Akula and to their right is Hunt Colors and his dam, Black Heather.

Exclaimation and Lynn Palm!!

Just got this fantastic photo of Lynn Palm riding Exclaimation, the darling colt by Claim to Fame and out of Colormarks (full brother to A'Claim, Eclipse and Claim Applause).

Exclaimation (Sport) is owned by Dr.Susan Funk of Bedford, VA. She's doing a fantastic job of getting Sport all the exposure, accolades and top notch training she can! He's just spent the spring of his third year with Lynn Palm at her Training Institute in Ocala.......... Thanks to Lynn for allowing us to use this beautiful photo of them both!!

March 21, 2009 Pizzaz and Patti visited the Cavallo Farms Horse Show for an "outting". Patti is known to frequent local shows and farms with visiting youngsters, to help them learn to trailer, travel, and go to shows even before they compete or are under saddle!

I've been scolded for not taking this beauty to some Hunter Breeding Classes...but this winter we've been busy doing other things!

We finally made it to an A Hunter Breeding Show in Ocala in May 09...where she won her class and was Reserve Champion Best Young Horse. We were up against some seasoned campaigners, so we were thrilled with this win! We're now looking forward to starting this beauty and wonderful mover U/S.....

P>S. Pizzazz has gone on to be an outstanding show and Derby horse.....She is owned by Linda Gavin and ridden by Stephanie Von Bidder, of Aiken, SC.

Claim to Fame's first foal now a fantastic hunter!

We are so thrilled to get this photo of Make a Claim (Thursday).......Claim to Fame's first test foal. She is now five years old, seventeen hands tall, and a regular in the hunt field with Rappahannock Hunt in Culpeper, VA. We're so oproud of her...

Her owner Fran Lyles, just received her "Colors" with Rappahannock Hunt......quite an honor....riding this youngster! Thursday has already safely taken Fran hunting all over the east.......

This lovely mare is truly a testiment to the saying "Pretty IS and Pretty DOES!" The fact that this beautifull big filly has safely carried her owner on hard foxhunts all over.......even as a four year old mare.......shows the brains the Claim to Fame can throw! We're so proud of both Fran AND Make a Claim!! v

Make a Claim is now owned by Manuel Johnson, the President of the Upperille Horse Show....we wish them both well!!

Legacy of Colors

This is a photo of one of the first mares to be born here, Legacy of Colors. She was ridden by Farrel Lyles, and competed with Sweetbriar Equestrian Team.

Legacy is now in the Knoxville, TN area being a mom! She had a lovely black pinto foal by Nico, the famous pinto Friesian stallion who was killed on Christmas Eve, 2011 in a barn fire. Legacy was also in that barn and was one of the few horses to make it out!! Thank GOD

We want to honor Akula, our foundation TB mare by Assault Landing....who was by Buckfinder, Buckpasser and Tom Fool. She was a LOVELY 16 hand black TB who had six foals for us! I also rode her foxhunting in First Flight with Live Oak Hounds.....barefoot! In fact she NEVER had a pair of shoes on......and had perfect feet! She was such a sweet, beautiful mare........shown here at the age of 17........after six foals: Kalhua and Cream, Claim to Fame, Flawless, Newsprint, Chromatic and Rodeo' Drive. She was judged premium by Rheinlaand Pfalz Saar International as a 15 year old, and accepted into the Hannoverian Mare Book (quite a feat for a 17 year old TB mare.......and judged "8" for hind legs!!) Every foal she had was "gold premium"......we honor her.......and miss her lots!

Kahlua and Cream, our first born, doing great!

We are so happy to have heard from KC (Kalhua and Cream)....the first filly born at Flying Colors Farm and Claim to Fame's big sister!!

She is now living back in Florida and owned by a wonderful young lady who loves her a lot and is doing wonderful things in the show ring on her! She's won the regional 4-H, and is also showing on the A Circuit!

This first photo is a conservative hunter photo, but look at this girl flying over those jumper jumps!! We're so proud of both of them!!

Exclaimation is Best Young Horse!!!

It's always fun to be successful, but we were especially proud when the 2006 colt by Claim to Fame and Colormarks went to the Jacksonville Fall Series Hunter Breeding classes and beat all the older horses.....for the title of Best Young Horse. We look forward to showing him on the line more in 2008....he's as perfect as they come in our opinion!!

Debonair aka The Old Time Hunter lookalike!

Someone commented to me at the Southern MFHA Centennial Fieldhunter Qualifier that Debonair looked like an old time painting......... I'm really tempted to paint this photo!

I was thrilled to win the BTO Reserve Championship in the Centennial Fieldhunter Championships for the MFHA (competition from the US and Canada!!) held in Virginia in May. Here are a few of my favorite photos!!

This is Flawless, (barn named Devon for her big brother, Claim to Fame's win). She is a 2001 Oldenburg mare who stands 16.2 as a four year old, and is still growing. She is actually 3/4 TB and 1/4 Dutch. She is by the Oldenburg stallion, Hall of Fame and out of our LOVELY broodmare, Akula (who has hunted with Live Oak Hounds barefoot and never taken a lame step in the ten years we've owned her!

Her picture perfect conformation earned her premium status at her Oldenburg Inspection - one of only three out of the thirty one presented to get that honor. She is a very comfortable, light and rhythmic horse to ride. She trailrides alone and in groups, visits shows, and has no vices! She has an awsome, stylish jump.

She got cast in her stall and unfortunately Flawless got some blemishes on her rear legs, so we bred her to Paparazzo for her 06 foal, Pizzazz. She's was back under saddle but we bred her again to Rosenthal for a 3/09 foal. Her first foal, Pizzaz, is one of the nicest foals ever born here, and she is turning into one wonderful broodmare for us.......but then she's a jewell to ride too! This mare has one of the kindest, most willing attitudes of any mare I've ever known.

Couldn't resist putting this photo of Claim to Fame jumping at Upperville in 2004 on the Gallery Page. He's our outstanding stallion.......see more of him on the stallion page!!

This is one of my favorite photos of two of our mares who were born on the farm and are now having thier own foals for us. Stormwatch and Colormarks. They greet me every morning when I walk out the door. What scenery!!!

Make a Claim, the first foal born by Claim to Fame is now living with her new owners, the Lyles, in Warrenton, Va. She showed on the line as a yearling and was placed fourth out of twenty eight (and the top pinto) out of 28 in her class at Devon. Shown here as a yearling, she won her class and was named Reserve Champion Best Young Horse at Lexington! We're proud of her! As a two year old she's now standing almost 16.2!!

Moonlight Jewell, shown here with her first foal for us, Colormarks, has been called the best hunter type Paint mare in the country. She was purchased from Terry /Brownb and Showcase LTD of Canton (Atlanta area) GA. She is three fourths TB and moves better than most show hunters on the Circuit! A true black and white, she has some awsome TB blood including Bold Ruler, Bull Dog, Tourbillion, War Admiral and Menow. She is the dam of two of our best pinto broodmares, and our homozygous stallion prospect, Counterclaim.

(Julie crossed that "Rainbow bridge" in 2006 at the age of 25.)

Hunt Colors

Patti has been an active foxhunter and member of Live Oak Hounds since 1986 where she serves as a field master. She enjoys taking her homebred pintos on visits to hunts all over the country. Hunt Colors, a 16.2 3/4 TB gelding is shown here on a recent trip to Virginia Hunt Week. "Hunter" has also shown in Amateur Adult Divisions in Hunter Shows and done some lower level eventing. He was bred by Flying Colors and is out of a lovely Sir Thompson (Tom Fool line) TB mare who won on the line at Devon!

It is often said "be spotted - ride a pinto! - and this second photo proves the point. Hunter drew a crowd of fans while working as an "outrider" at the CCI*** Red Hills Horse Trials!

The bottom photos are at the Live Oak Pony Club Benefit, where he was the Champion of the show!!

Hunter is now living with Annie Long in Shelbyville, KY where he is very loved!

Her Foxhunter - "The Perfect Horse"in my book. Dakota is shown here as a 12 year old Paint/TB gelding. True black and white. 16 H. 2001 Overall Adult Amateur Hunter Champion for Southern Hunter Jumper Association. At the same time he was a regular in the field, as well as leading the field as the field master's mount, foxhunting first flight with Live Oak Hounds of Monticello, Florida. That same year he hunted as a guest with Orange County and Cassanova Hunts in Virginia, Midland and Belle Meade in Georgia, and with Mooreland Hunt in Alabama.

Shown here in the first photo with Patti (competing under his show name of "Her Foxhunter") in the Fall 2003 in the well known Rocking Horse Trials in Altoona, Florida, they placed second in their first Recognized Novice Division with a final score of 34. The second photo is of the 2005 National Fieldhunter Championshps in Middleburg, VA. We were named Reserve Champion out of a field of sixty seven of the best hunters in the east competing. It was a trip and a thrill of a lifetime!! He truely proved himself to be my perfect horse, as I've always called him.

Dakota is now living in Tennessee with Rachel Looney. He was sold to her and taught her to hunt (Rachel!!) at the difficult Hillsboro Hounds!

Colormarks shown as a 2 year old at the East Coast Finals of the International Hunter Futurity. She is a lovely 16.2 hands mare by Hallmark with exceptional TB blood and athletic ability. Colormarks had a lovely 2003 filly by Claim to Fame, was under saddle awhile, had our exciting VOLTAIRE Pinto Colt in 2005 and then had our gold premium RPSI Colt, Exclaimation, in 2006. We took a year off in 07 to keep her sharp in her under saddle work. Patience went on to have Eclipse and Claim Applause, two lovely premium fillies. She was judged premium at her inspection and is an exceptional mare! She now lives in Canada, but we keep in touch with her owner!

Queens Colors is a 17h black pinto premium Oldenburg mare and has been one of our broodmares. She is half TB and half Dutch Warmblood and was shown as a youngster by Don Stewart where she won championships on the A Hunter Circuit. She also had numerous wins in breed classes.

She is the dam of Stormwatch, Rhythm and Blues, Royal Finale and Debonair, who is still at Flying Colors Farm. She was sold to a wonderful home in Washington, DC where she is now doing dressage and some trail riding!

Stormwatch - "Stormy" is a Dutch/TB cross filly. She stands 16.1. She is black and white and homozygous for the black gene. She is by the Dutch stallion, Domino, her dam is Queens Colors. Stormy won Best Young Horse in Jacksonville Mid Winter Series 2003 and placed in the top five of her class in the IHF East Coast Finals.

Stormy was moved into my foxhunting string by necessity, and has been both in the field and leading the field at Live Oak, one of the top foxhunts in the Country. She's also been one some hunting road trips! this fall she hunted with Orange County Hunt in Middleburg, Bull Run, and Rappahannock in Virginia.

I recently let her go to her first horse trial...Rocking Horse. She won second in Novice, with a 30.5 dressage and clean cross country and stadium jumping. Her rider, Yett, trotted down a dressage movement that was to be walked, or she would have gotten first place! This mare will jump anything!! I sadly sold her in 2007 to make room for the new foals!! She is now owned by Ann Root of Boca Raton, FL. We miss her but are glad to know she has such a wonderful home!

Newsprint - a 2002 full brother to Claim to Fame. Shown here as a weanling at his Oldenburg Inspection, and again as a two year old, he is growing up at Flying Colors.

Now four and started under saddle, Newsprint stands 16.2 and what a mover he is! A hack winner for sure, with looks and a brain to boot!

We will be bringing this youngster along and look forward to showing him myself. He'll be quite an advertisement for our breeding program and his big brother!!

He is finally starting his show career - a few delay's due to injuries to me, not him! Shown here at his first show with Amy Center aboard (I was recovering from surgery on my wrist!) He was Reserve Champion.......and the flat winner!

The last photo was taken of us as we went on the Cross Country Course at Red Hills Horse Trials where we were asked to help with the crowds and do PR for Live Oak Hounds!
